Our therapies
Drug and alcohol addiction programmes range from outpatient programmes to full-blown residential treatments. There are so many options that it can be difficult to choose which are right for a given situation. Private Rehab Guide is here to help steer you in the most beneficial direction.
Most of the private clinics we work with offer a full range of therapies, alongside the 12-step programme and a selection of activities, such as meditation and yoga. Some of their therapies include:
- Detox – Detox is a process, usually lasting about a week, wherein the client is prevented from accessing addictive substances. Detox includes a few days of withdrawal, a few days of recovery, and then a period of maintenance and aftercare.
- Rehab – Rehab is not technically a therapy; rather, it is a philosophy. Rehab involves using various therapies to get at the deeper emotional and mental issues related to drug and alcohol abuse. It seeks to address those issues in order to teach individuals how to cope with emotions and setbacks healthily.
- Counselling – Both individual and group counselling are vital tools within drug addiction therapies. Individual counselling pairs clients with a professional who is able to deal with those deep-rooted issues, while group counselling provides both encouragement and a listening ear in a supportive environment.
- Group activities – Many private rehab clinics offer group activities as part of residential treatment. These group activities teach residents that it is possible to enjoy life without using drugs or alcohol. They are also means of showing those with addiction what they have been missing. Group activities are powerful motivators that encourage long-lasting friendships and support.
- Skills training – Skills training involves teaching clients successful strategies for combating future temptation. This is necessary for continue to deal with cravings once clients have returned home.
- Interdictive medications – There are times when attempting detox and rehab cold turkey is either physically dangerous or counterproductive to the overall goal. In these cases, a clinic will use certain medications designed to help gradually wean clients from their addiction. When appropriate, they can be prescribed for continued use in the weeks and months following successful treatment.
- Family counselling – One of the most important therapies of all is that of family counselling. Regardless of the programme chosen, those in rehab will eventually have to return home and resume a normal life. Family members need to know how to best support that person and themselves, when that time comes.
Private versus NHS services
Addiction rehab is available through both private and NHS services. Although NHS services are free of charge, there is often a long waiting list and treatment options are limited. If you need urgent support, want to access one-to-one counselling, are interested in trying a variety of different approaches or want to be supported by those that are specifically qualified and experienced in addiction, then private care is the more appropriate option.
Please get in touch with Private Rehab Guide if you or your loved one is in need of support. We will help you figure out what programmes and therapies are best for your circumstances and can have a room ready for you within 24-hours of you reaching out to us.
